Like many of you, the Indigenous Peoples Task Force is surprised and saddened by the sudden closure of a vital partner in the work to End HIV in Minnesota, Rainbow Health. For decades, Rainbow Health has provided timely and effective services and programs for people living with HIV, while also offering preventive services for those at increased risk for HIV, throughout the state. Rainbow Health has played an important role in helping to advancing treatment outcomes and improve Minnesotans quality of life and health.
Chi miigwech (big thank you) to the entire Rainbow Health team; your legacy of tireless advocacy and dedicated service to End HIV will never be forgotten.
Since the news of the closure broke, we have been working to increase our capacity to be a bridge to care for those impacted by the closure. We are currently offering urgent resource navigation and care triage, and prioritizing intakes for clients needing permanent care and resource support.
Like our partners across the community, we are working with funders and other stakeholders to limit the negative impacts of this change. Though the road ahead may not be clear, what is clear is the strength that lies at the heart of our collective power and resiliency.
As we walk this sad and strange journey, together, let’s draw strength from each other and our purpose-to End HIV in Minnesota and beyond.
Miigwech for your dedication to strengthening the health and wellness of each other and our community.
